On Wednesday 3rd October 2012 leading members of the Pringle family met together and heldThe Clan Pringle Cap Badge the inaugural meeting of the Clan Pringle Association in the Pewterers’ Hall in London.

The Proposed Constitution of the Clan Pringle Association was tabled and adopted after a unanimous vote.

A copy of the Constitution is available to download here.

The following officers were unanimously elected in accordance with the Constitution:

  • Chairman - James W Pringle of Torwoodlee, the 14th Laird.
  • Secretary (and Pringle DNA Surname Project Administrator) - Sir Murray Pringle of Stitchill, Bart.

The following were also elected as Trustees:

At the meeting we agreed to apply to become a not-for-profit charitable organization with the relevant authorities in Scotland, and open a bank account for donations. We hope that this will be the beginning of something much larger, and that Pringle’s from all over the world will join us in our efforts.

On 6th October 2013 the Board of Trustees co-opted the following Trustee:

  • William Leon Pringle III, as a North America Representative.

Achievements:

The Pringle DNA Surname Project: To date, 61 men have joined our Y-DNA Surname Project. Of these, 39 men are shown to be related by varying degrees of closeness. Of these related men 22 do not have the surname Pringle or variants (Prindle, Pring, Pringe) or did not provide their names. Of the 22 unrelated men, 15 have the Pringle or variant names, probably because of a past adoption or illegitimacy, or an ancestor taking his wife’s Pringle surname for some reason. The remaining seven unrelated men had different surnames or did not provide their names.
